Recruiter needs eng’rs for Qatar proj

MANILA, Philippines - Skilled engineers and construction specialists in the Philippines are being targeted by multinational design and engineering consultancy, Hyder Consulting, for a major recruitment drive. Successful candidates have the opportunity to work on worldwide projects, including the building of Qatar’s first metro system.

Hyder Consulting, which specialises in the transport, utilities, property, energy, and resources and environment sectors, will be hosting a recruitment fair in Manila today at the lobby of the Makati Shangri-la Hotel.

Hyder Consulting’s Philippines Global Excellence Centre has been operating for over 10 years and currently employs around 270 people.

Hyder Consulting’s David Burgess, Global Excellence Centre and shared services director in Manila, says: “The Philippines has an excellent reputation for developing highly skilled engineers and construction specialists. We have grown our presence in the country significantly over the last decade and are looking to do so again with a major recruitment drive at a time when unemployment, especially among engineering and skilled workers, is high.

“We have an exciting pipeline of projects that new recruits would be working on, such as the Jeddah Municipality project, creating the new Doha Metro system and highway and mining projects in Australia. With a base at our headquarters in the Philippines, successful candidates will have the chance to work on a range of international projects.”
