MDC awarded 3 ISO certificates

The Makati Development Corp. (MDC), the Ayala Land subsidiary handling construction, has set the Philippine record for achieving three certifications of world-class standards all issued at one time.

It also sets the country record for being the only construction company that holds three ISO certifications. These are for quality, environment and health and safety.

Formal rites for the warding of the ISO certifications by the Certification International Philippines Inc. is set today, March 28, at the Market! Market! construction site at the Fort Bonifacio Global City.

From the industry front, MDC president Emilio Tumbocon said the MDC citations put the Philippines on improved competitive footing with foreign construction companies.

Tumbocon said, "These ISO certifications recognize that MDC practices are patterned alongside with the best practices in the world." He said it upholds MDC’s "responses to being customer-focused, to being flexible, developing a learning organization and globally competitive."

The badges of repute earned are ISO 9001:2000 for Quality Management; ISO 14001:1996 for Environmental Management, and OHSAS 18001: 1999 for Occupational, Health and Safety Management.

Tumbocon noted that its Integrated Management System assures customer satisfaction and compliance with regulatory requirements. It affirms concern for the environment and commitment to health and safety of its employees and partners.
