VAT aalisin ng BIR sa system loss charge

MANILA, Philippines — Inihahanda na ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) ang isang kautusan na magtatanggal ng value-added tax (VAT) sa allowable system loss charge na sinisingil sa mga konsumer ng ­kuryente.

Ito ay kasunod ng utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na repasuhin ang batas sa pagbubuwis upang mapagaan ang pasanin ng mamamayan sa bayarin sa kuryente.

Ayon kay BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza, maglalabas ang ahensya ng circular 15 araw matapos ang publication ng Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Resolution No. 26, Series of 2026 hinggil sa system loss charge.

“When there is a clear basis under the law to provide tax relief, we should act on it… we can immediately implement the VAT removal and pass the benefit on to electricity consumers,” ani Mendoza.

Ang system loss charge ay isang cost recovered mula sa electricity bills, at hindi kita ng generation companies, NGCP, o distribution utilities.

Sa simpleng paliwanag ni Mendoza: “Consumers should not be paying VAT on electricity that never actually reaches their homes or businesses.”

Ang pagtanggal ng VAT ay magreresulta sa mas mababang singil sa kuryente para sa mga konsumer.

Alinsunod sa circular, hindi sasailalim sa output VAT at creditable withholding taxes ang Lifeline Subsidy, Green Energy Auction Allowance at iba pang government-mandated charges.
