Vice Presidential Security Group, binuhay ng AFP para kay Sara
MANILA, Philippines — Binuhay muli ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) upang mangalaga sa seguridad at kaligtasan ni Vice President–elect Sara Duterte at ng kaniyang pamilya.
Sinabi ni Col. Jorry Baclor, AFP-Public Affairs Office chief, si AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Andres Centino ang namuno kasama ang iba pang matataas na opisyal ng militar sa activation ceremony sa Camp Aguinaldo kamakalawa ng hapon.
Kasabay nito, itinalaga ni Centino si Lt. Col. Rene Giroy bilang kauna-unahang VPSPG Commander.
“The AFP saw it fitting to provide the Office of the Vice President a dedicated unit that shall ensure the safety and security of the second-highest elected official in the country,” ayon sa Chief of Staff.
Ang VPSPG ay dating Vice Presidential Security Detachment na nasa ilalim ng Presidential Security Group (PSG). Sa pag-active sa VPSPG, isa na itong hiwalay na unit na pamumunuan ng isang 0-6 Grade officer na may ranggong Colonel o katumbas ng Navy Captain.
“I am confident that the newly-designated acting VPSPG Commander and the rest of the Officers and Enlisted Personnel entrusted to ensure the safety, security, and welfare of the Vice President and her family shall perform their responsibilities to the best of their abilities,” ayon pa sa Chief of Staff.
