Pagpapadala ng OFWs sa Saudi Arabia suspedido ng DOLE 'until further notice'
MANILA, Philippines — Pansamantalang pagbabawalan ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang pagpapadala ng mga manggagawa't empleyadong Pilipino sa Saudi Arabia, kasunod ng mga balitang pagpapataw sa kanila ng sari-saring gastusin para sa COVID-19 health protocols.
Lumabas ang nasabing kautusan sa advisory ng DOLE at Konsulada ng Pilipinas sa Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Huwebes. Ang huli ay pirmado ni acting labor attache Hemingildo Daytoc.
"In line with the directive issued by [Labor Secretary] Silvestre Bello III, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (DOLO) in Jeddah wishes to inform the Filipino Community and other concerned parties of the temporary suspension of the deployment of OFWs to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," ani Daytoc.

Dagdag ng dokumento, magsisimulang hindi tumanggap at magproseso ng job orders at employment contracts ang POLO Jeddah simula Linggo, ika-30 ng Mayo, 2021.
Sa kabila nito, patuloy pa rin naman daw silang magproproseso ng Balik Manggagawa at OWWA membership.
Inilabas ang balitang ito kahit na kaaanunsyo lang ngayong araw na parte na ng A1 priority para sa COVID-19 vaccine ang mga OFW na papunta ng ibang bansa para magtrabaho.
Eh bakit ginawa 'yan?
Sa pinirmahang memorandum ni Bello na inilabas ng POLO Riyadh, ipinaliwanag ng kalihim na ang kadahilanan sa likod ng suspensyon ng deployment.
"The Department received reports that departing OFWs are being required by their employers/foreign recruitment agencies to shoulder the costs of the health and safety protocol for COVID-19 and insurance coverage premium upon their entry in the Kingdom," ani Bello.
"The Department will be issuing an official statement on the resumption of deployment in the KSA after this matter has been clarified accordingly."
Sa ulat ng GMA News, sinabing "dismayado" ang daan-daang OFW na papunta sana ng Saudi Arabia matapos ang ibinabang suspensyon ng DOLE sa nasabing bansa.
