Body found in Paknaan yet to be identified

CEBU, Philippines - An unidentified man, who was believed to have jumped off Cansaga Bridge in Consolacion town, Cebu last Wednesday, was found floating dead in the seawaters of Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City last Thursday afternoon.

As of press time, police have not yet identified the man.

According to Police Officer 1 Matt Roco of Basak Police Station, personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard immediately responded to the area after they received the report regarding the finding of the man's body.

The PCG personnel brought the body to a shipyard in Barangay Tayud, Consolacion. Residents in the area could not, however, identify the man.

Authorities did not also find any identification card or document that will help identify the man.

Roco said the man was wearing a shirt with orange stripes and jogging pants. He was believed to be between 20 and 30 years old and was not wearing shoes nor slippers.

Roco also said the man was slim, with long hair, and about 5'7'' tall.

The police are still identifying the cause of the man's death, particularly if there was any foul play involved because a scar was seen on his face.

The body was brought to Cebu Rolling Hills funeral parlor on A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City for autopsy. — Jave A. Matugas (FREEMAN)
