Man survives stabbing in Suba

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — A man survived after he was stabbed two times while sleeping last Tuesday dawn in Barangay Suba, Cebu City.

The 28-year-old man from Bohol and a temporary resident of the area sustained two icepick stab wounds to the lower part of his chest.

Police identified the alleged perpetrator as a certain "Raymart" from Lapu-Lapu City.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim was sleeping inside the house of his cousin when the stabbing occurred.

Two concerned citizens came to the station to report the incident at around 3:25 a.m.

SPO1 Ronald Cabrera, chief investigator of San Nicolas Station, said the victim was brought to the hospital for medical treatment.

However, he reportedly signed a waiver since he refused to be confined and went to the station yesterday morning to file an affidavit that he is not interested to file a case.

"Dili siya interesado kay ang iya kay adto lang siya magpa-ayo sa iyang samad didto sa Bohol," said Cabrera. (He is not interested to file a case and he wants to go to Bohol while waiting for his wound to heal.)

Cabrera added the victim has already returned to Bohol and was only in the city to attend a fiesta.

Police eye personal grudge as a possible motive of the said incident.

Cabrera revealed that the attack was because of love triangle. — Imarie Jane D. Madarieta, USJ-R Intern, MBG (FREEMAN)
