Atomicseventynine rules White Castle Whisky Race

Jockey Jeffril Zarate effortlessly guides Atomicseventynine (USA) to the finish line to handily win the White Castle Whisky Trophy Race at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite.

MANILA, Philippines — Multiple stakes winning race mare Atomicseventynine (USA) promptly signaled her return to championship form as she scored an impressive comeback victory in the featured White Castle Whisky – PRHTAI Trophy Race last Sunday at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite.

Fresh off a three month lay-off since winning the fifth leg of the 2017 Philracom Imported-Local Challenge Stakes Series last June 11 at the same track, the five-year-old galloper picked up where she left off by dispatching seasoned stakes campaigners Messi and Hot and Spicy halfway into the race before cruising to an easy victory with plenty to spare.

The imposing chestnut mare sired by two-time US Horse of the Year and emerging sire influence Curlin (USA) out of stakes winning Western Hemisphere (USA) covered the 1,600m event in a snappy 1:39.8, her 11th win in 15 starts on local tracks.

Winning rider, Jeffril Zarate, who’s now two-for-two atop Atomicseventynine, was all praises for his prized mount after the race.

“She hardly worked up a sweat and will definitely move forward in the coming weeks,” he said.

Aptly named after the atomic number of gold, Atomicseventynine (USA) also won the second leg of the Philracom Open Challenge Series last Feb. 26 and is steadily emerging as a worthy contender for this year’s premiership title among all comers.

Connections of Atomicseventynine are in fact pointing her to the coveted Ambassador Eduardo Cojuangco Jr. Cup Nov. 12  at the Santa Ana Park in Naic, Cavite, local racing’s definitive championship for imports and locals which will likely showcase her rematch with defending champion Sakima (USA).

“With about a month to go before the big classic showdown, we are confident that Atomicseventynine will be peaking just at the right time and possibly pose a bigger challenge this time around to the formidable SC Stockfarm duo of Sakima and Hitting Spree,”said owner Joseph “Joey” Dyhengco.

Trainer Anthony Francisco also expressed confidence that the beautiful race mare will be ably supported in the upcoming Cojuangco Cup by recent US import She’s Incredible, a stakes winning four-year-old mare from Florida, USA with a race record of three wins and earnings in excess of $223,000.
