Perez stars anew as Pirates sink Knights for 16th straight win

MANILA, Philippines – Lyceum of the Philippines University rode on an MVP-like performance by CJ Perez as it waylaid Letran, 81-69, on Friday to move on the verge of sweeping its way straight to the finals in the 93rd NCAA basketball tournament at the Filoil Arena in San Juan City.
Perez dropped 24 points to power the Pirates to their 16th consecutive win, two victories closer to clinching an outright finals berth and a thrice-to-beat advantage.
LPU squares off with Jose Rizal on October 13 and San Beda, the reigning titlist, on October 19.
The Knights absorbed their eighth defeat against the same number of wins but still clung to the No. 4 spot.
