NCAA brings action to member schools

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The NCAA holds its first “school games” in a long while with juniors and seniors matches between Season 93 host San Sebastian and Arellano U on July 13 at the latter’s school gym in Legarda, Manila.

Dubbed the “NCAA on Tour,” the school games will be held every Thursday, according to NCAA Management Committee chair Fr. Glyn Ortega, OAR, of San Sebastian.

Mapua will host the next school tour on July 20, followed by San Sebastian-Cavite on July 27, Letran on Aug. 3, Emilio Aguinaldo College on Aug. 10 and Perpetual Help on Aug. 17 – all in the first round.

Two junior games will actually be played at Letran gym on July 9 with San Sebastian tackling last year’s runner-up San Beda at 1 p.m. and defending champion Mapua facing off with Arellano at 3 p.m.

The new season will fire off July 8 with reigning seniors titlist San Beda battling San Sebastian at 2 p.m. and Mapua squaring off with Arellano U at 4 p.m. at the MOA Arena in Pasay.

There will be three seniors games on Tuesdays and Fridays, which will be held at Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

“The idea is to re-ignite the student’s passion for the NCAA by bringing the games straight to them,” said Ortega. “Also, it will be part of our celebration of our 100th year anniversary a few years from now.”

The league is also mulling to introduce 3x3 basketball and futsal as special events in the second semester.
