Olympian Larriba diagnosed with leukemia, in need of blood
MANILA, Philippines — Rio Olympics flag-bearer and table tennis champion Ian Larriba was diagnosed with leukemia.
Larriba’s family on Monday announced the athlete will undergo treatment this week for acute myeloid Leukemia.
AML is a type of cancer wherein a person's bone marrow cells develop abnormally and attack other healthy cells.
Larriba is currently in need of Blood Type O donations. Those who want to donate can go to the St. Luke's Medical Center Quezon City Blood Bank.

Larriba, a product of the De La Salle University table tennis program, did not drop a single game in her five years in the UAAP.
She was awarded Rookie of the Year in Season 74, and was a three-time MVP (Season 75, 77 and 78) and a two-time UAAP Athlete of the Year (Season 77 and 78).
In 2016, she qualified for the 2016 Olympics after winning the Asian qualification tournament in Hong Kong.
She lost to Congo's Han Xing in the preliminary round of the Olympics.
