Bullpups pull off OT win vs Lighties
MANILA, Philippines - Unbeaten National University needed two extra periods to turn back Jose Rizal University, 93-90, and stretch its run to four in the 10th Freego Cup at the Buddhacare gym in QC last Tuesday.
Cyril Gonzales led the Bullpups with 21 points while Rhyyan Amsali and Michael Malonzo scored 20 points each as the Bullpups stayed unbeaten while handing the Light Bombers their first defeat in five matches.
Defending champion Chiang Kai Shek College, meanwhile, continued its recovery from a 0-3 start by downing the Baby Tamaraws, 97-59, as John Galinato combined with Joshua Tolentino and John Aying.
The win improved Chiang Kai Sek’s record to 2-3 in the tournament also backed by Smart, Powerhouse and Home Depot.
In other games, La Salle Greenhills improved to 3-2 with an 89-62 rout of Lyceum while University of Santo Tomas pulled off a pulsating 77-75 win over University of the East for a 2-2 mark.
The Junior Warriors fell to 1-3.
