Man, 79, dies in motorbike mishap

ILOILO CITY , Philippines  – A 79-year-old man died when his motorcycle collided with another driven by a 13-year-old boy along the highway in Barangay Poblacion in Anilao, Iloilo on Monday.

Franciso Araneta was thrown off his motorcycle and suffered head injuries. He died while being treated at the Western Visayas Medical Center.

The boy sustained minor injuries and was turned over to the municipal social welfare and development office.

In Isabela, 33 people were injured when their bus rolled over in a rice field along the highway in Barangay San Juan in Ilagan City also on Monday. ?

Superintendent Ariel Quilang, Ilagan police chief, saidthree passengers, including two policemen, remained confined at the Gov. Faustino Dy Sr. Memorial Hospital.

Initial reports showed Samuel Regualos, 44, driver of the Manila-bound GV Florida bus (POC-810) lost control of the wheel because the road was  slippery due to the rain.
