Boy, 8, dies in QC fire

MANILA, Philippines - The body of an eight-year-old boy was charred beyond recognition after a fire broke out at his home in Quezon City yesterday morning.

Alex Tantuan Jr. was trapped in his home along Matapang street in Barangay Payatas A when a fire started at around 10:16 a.m.

The fire reached third alarm and destroyed three houses and three junkshops, causing an estimated P50,000 in structural damages, before it was put out  by around 11:25 a.m., said Senior Superintendent Manuel Manuel, city fire marshal.

Cezar Aguilar, 58, and Rochelle del Monte sustained burns on the face and arms during the fire.

Manuel said the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
