Lesser lights lead FIGBA finals cast
MANILA, Philippines - Twenty-seven participants, mostly unknown breeders and cockers, banner the cast in the grand finals of the FIGBA National Bakbakan 12-stag derby on Dec. 17 at Roligon Mega Cockpit.
Meanwhile, the final roster is still expected to swell with two more elimination rounds on tap, including today’s qualifiers, also at Roligon. The last elims will be held on Thursday.
Except for familiar names like Celso Evangelista, Julieto Daniel, 2011 Bakbakan champ Gov. Eddiebong Plaza and Reps. Vic Yap and Peter Unabia, the rest are virtually unknown.
They include Roberto Santos, Jerome Lu, Michael Sevilleno, Jayson Solayao, Jay Lucente, Dunhill Laxamana, Jesse Perez, JJ Cuizon, Dennis Buizon, Edil Endozo, Eman Eduarte, Arnel Ladera, Banjo Sotto, Rey Madayag, Glenforo Miguel, Ian Manaquis, Jun Ortega, Jesse Mayo, Russel Briones and Rod Atilano.
The 2016 Bakbakan is spearheaded by FIGBA (International Federation of Gamefowl Breeders), which boasts of 38 member-associations.
The Marianas Gamefowl Breeders Association joined the FIGBA group last month.
