MANILA, Philippines – Three days after the Philippine delegation to the 2016 Olympics arrived in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, they are perfectly fine and fully acclimated.

According to team physician Dr. Ferdinand Brawner, everyone’s in high spirits.

"All of us had some concerns regarding the long haul,” said the team doctor, who also doubles as its physio-therapist. "So far, no one among our athletes is complaining of drained energies due to jet lag.”

“The amenities are good. The rooms are not small naman. The bigger rooms can accommodate two people very comfortably. Others accommodate only person per room. Naturally, there are problems here and there but the organizers were able to address them immediately and adequately naman.”

"The water pressure just needs some adjustments from the main,” conceded Brawner.

With regards to health issues and the Zika virus, Brawner said that the meeting of all team doctors with medical organizers will take place on August 2.

“There are no urgent concerns health wise. Food is changed daily. So far there are no food related concerns for anyone on the Philippine team and I have not heard any concerns from the other contingents," he added.

“As of today, the boxers — Rogen Ladon and Charley Suarez — are arriving before noon time here. Once they arrive, only (marathon runner) Mary Joy Tabal, (golfer) Miguel Tabuena and (sprinter) Eric Cray are to arrive.”

“Right now, our athletes are now enjoying their Olympic edition Samsung S7 edge custom-made for the Philippines. Every country gets one that is tailor-fit for them."
