MANILA, Philippines — Almost there.

MANILA, Philippines — The speculation surrounding Ateneo de Manila University wards Hubert Cani and Arvin Tolentino transferring to a rival University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) school has become clearer as the two young cagers tweeted identical tweets.

Cani and Tolentino have been under the spotlight after reports of them not meeting the required grade for Ateneo student-athletes surfaced.

If it’s any indication, the heart emojis resembled Far Easter University’s main colors of yellow and green.

Sought for confirmation, FEU Tamaraw’s Mark Molina said through a message: “Nothing official yet. We are happy both Arvin and Hubert chose FEU."

A story ran by sports site Spin.PH last week indicated that the aforementioned Eagles, along with three more in Clint Doliguez, John Apacible and Kemark Carino, were ruled out ineligible by the university for academic deficiencies.

Cani and Tolentino, prior to suiting up for Ateneo, were both blue-chip recruits. The former was once the juniors division’s Most Valuable Player during his stint with the National University, while the latter was one of San Beda high school’s top talents.

Tolentino went on to win the UAAP’s Rookie of the Year award last year.

San Beda’s senior team was also reported to be in talks to acquire Tolentino. Cani, on the other hand, was courted by Adamson University who is helmed by veteran tactician Franz Pumaren.

But it seems the Tams are already putting the finishing touches.

"We will meet with them and check their transfer documents so we can make it official,” Molina added.

Jerie Pingoy, who is one of the most-anticipated Ateneo rookies since Kiefer Ravena, also hinted his departure from the Blue Eagles just days ago.

Pingoy, a former FEU high school standout, was the subject of a legal circus that caught national buzz. The residency issues hounding him put him on the Ateneo sidelines for two years. He is reported to be on his way to back to the Morayta camp.
