Phoenix routs Topstar ZC; AMA triumphs

MANILA, Philippines - Phoenix blew past Topstar ZC Mindanao with a pair of big runs in the middle quarters, fashioning out a 126-77 blowout yesterday to notch its fifth straight victory in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Mike Tolomia unloaded 11 of his 25 points in the second period as the Accelerators raced to a 56-40 bulge at the half after a six-point lead in the first 10 minutes.

In the second game, AMA Online Education eked out an 81-78 victory over Blustar Detergent for its first win of the conference.

Rashawn McCarthy showed the way with 20 points, six assists, and five rebounds, while Jay-R Taganas tallied a double-double with 16 markers and 11 boards.

”Malaking tulong talaga si McCarthy at Taganas kasi pakonti-konti, nabubuo ko na yung team na gusto namin,” said coach Mark Herrera.

Jayson Jordan also had 13 points and five rebounds in the breakthrough victory.
