Milcu summer showcase draws huge field
MANILA, Philippines – More teams are joining the Milcu Sports Got Skills Summer Showcase, bring to 66 the total number of squads currently seeing action in various divisions at the Enderun Colleges gym.
Tournament director Allen Ricardo said school teams from Metro Manila and the provinces in all age groups – 12-under, 13-under, 14-under, 16-under, and 25-under – were accommodated to take part in the Summer Showcase conference sponsored by Milcu and sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
“Several more teams wanted to join but unfortunately we weren’t able to accommodate them already. Still, we are very pleased with the turnout of the tournament,” said Ricardo.
Meanwhile, La Salle continued to dominate the 25-Under division as it blasted Ateneo, 85-59, and Technological Institute of the Philippines, 62-49, while Adamson also posted a pair of routs, a 61-41 romp over San Beda and a 57-22 thrashing of the PCAF in the 16-U class of the league backed by Basketball TV, Gatorade, Clyde Shoe Cleaner, Kawasaki, LGR, SLAM, Rain or Shine, Honda, Coach Athletic Trainers Tape, Secret Fresh, Mighty Sports, and Nousha Kebabs and Barbeque.
Chiang Kai Shek College, meanwhile, is one of the squads setting the pace in the 14-under and 13-under categories after two weeks of play while La Salle-Greenhills leads the field in the 12-under category.
Provincial teams have also dished out superb showing, including International School for Better Beginners-Lucena, which won its first two games in the 14-under class.
