Girl, 17, robbed and raped inside Pastoral Center; suspect nabbed

CEBU, Philippines - A 17-year-old girl was robbed of her P1,900 cash, cellphone and laptop then sexually molested inside the comfort room at the second floor of the Pastoral Center building of the Dumaguete Diocese.

The police, with the help of the footage from the CCTV camera of the Holy Child Hospital, was able to identify the suspect and arrested him in his house at Barangay Sacsac in Bacong town. The stolen items were recovered from the possession of the suspect.

The 21-year-old suspect, identified only as a certain Mike, admitted having robbed first the girl with an accomplice identified as George of Zamboanguita town.

After the robbery, the suspect brought the girl to the second floor of the building and, while inside the comfort room, inserted his finger to the private part of the victim, who then shouted for help.

Intial investigations disclosed that both the victim and the suspect are beneficiaries of the feeding program of the diocese, while the victim is being sent to college by a sister or a priest. —Juancho R. Gallarde (FREEMAN)
