Ormoc deploys security personnel
CEBU, Philippines - Personnel of the civil security unit, traffic enforcers, barangay officials and tanods, and volunteers have been deployed by the Ormoc City government to secure public places and religious sites during the Holy Week observance, also known as 2014 Semana Santa, in line with the DILG memorandum circular 2014-41.
Mayor Edward Codilla said these personnel must exercise patience in controlling the flow of people, the number of whom are expected to rise than last year's. "With the effects of typhoon Yolanda still felt in Eastern Visayas, our city is the most ideal place to be in times of prayers, recreation and shopping," he said.
Security preparations and traffic management are now set in churches, plazas and resorts, among others, including the availability of adequate transportation and medical services, following the directive of DILG Secretary Mar Roxas. (FREEMAN)
