2 brothers held for extortion
MANILA, Philippines - Two brothers were apprehended for allegedly extorting P30,000 from a woman in exchange for the release of a theft suspect in Pasig City on Saturday.
Francisco Magtulis, 33, and his brother Frisian, 50, of Barangay San Andres Bukid in Manila, were arrested in an entrapment operation along Caruncho Avenue in Barangay Malinao.
The Magtulis siblings were caught after receiving P3,000 in marked money, Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, director of the Eastern Police District, said.
Sapitula said the suspects were arrested based on the complaint of Maribeth Barroquillo, 38, whose relative Anelyn Dordas was detained for qualified theft at the Pasig police detention cell.
