Ateneo giniba ang UP; La Salle tinakasan ang NU
MANILA, Philippines - Kumamada sina rookie Arvin Tolentino, Kiefer Ravena at Chris Newsome para ihatid ang Ateneo De Manila University sa 86-75 panalo laban sa University of the Philippines sa 77th UAAP men’s basketball tournament kahapon sa Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City.
Nagposte si Tolentino ng 20 points kasunod ang 19 ni Ravena at 18 ni Newsome para sa ikatlong sunod na ratsada ng Ateneo.
Kumpara sa unang dalawang panalo ng Blue Eagles, hindi nila naipagpag ang Fighting Maroons.
Buhat sa 23-21 bentahe sa first period ay kinuha ng Ateneo ang 63-49 kalamangan sa dulo ng third quarter bago nakalapit ang UP sa 67-71 agwat sa huling 4:47 minuto ng final canto.
Nagsalpak si Ravena ng isang three-point shot kasunod ang putback ni Tolentino para sa 11-1 atake ng Blue Eagles at tuluyan nang angkinin ang tagumpay.
“Defensively, against Kiefer he had to bleed for his points and also I think we were a step slower than they were. That’s the reason why I really on the onset wanted them to feel that the La Salle win we had is the same as UP,” sabi ni Ateneo coach Bo Perasol.

Pinamunuan ni Kyles Lao ang UP sa kanyang 16 points kasunod ang 10 ni JR Gallarza.
