2 Sayyaf men nabbed in Basilan
ZAMBOANGA CITY , Philippines — Two Abu Sayyaf bandits were arrested in this city on Friday night.
Emran Sanduyugan Ismael, with aliases of Bantong Basinti and Bantong Basiri, and Bryan Ismail Mohammad, alias Pojong Attiun, were collared by operatives of the police and regional intelligence unit at a mall along La Purisima street at about 9:15 p.m.
Chief Superintendent Billy Beltran, Zamboanga peninsula police director, said the suspects could be looking for possible targets in the city.
Ismael and Mohammad were charged with two counts of kidnapping and serious illegal detention for taking Golden Harvest plantation workers in Barangay Tairan, Lantawan town on June 11, 2001.
Five of the kidnap victims were decapitated and their heads were dumped in a rubber plantation in Barangay Cabunbata, Isabela City.
The suspects are undergoing tactical interrogation at the regional intelligence unit to determine their purpose for coming to this city.
