Maid who stole P1M worth of jewelry arrested
MANILA, Philippines — A woman who stole P1 million worth of jewelry from her Chinese employer was arrested Tuesday.
Jonalyn Ander, 33, was arrested at the house of her employer, Sharon Chua, in Barangay Horseshoe at around 10 a.m., Chief Superintendent Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, Quezon City Police District director, said in a text message.
Chua told police that Ander, who works as her maid, stole an engagement ring worth P500,000, a wedding ring priced at P500,000, and a wristwatch worth P12,000.
The items were recovered at around 3:30 p.m. at Ander’s residence in Balagtas, Bulacan.
Ander said she was tempted to steal the items.
“Please forgive me, I have three children,” she said in a television interview.
The suspect is facing a case of qualified theft.
