Korean suspect in Jee Ick-joo slay held

ANGELES CITY, Philippines — A South Korean who reportedly negotiated the ransom with the wife of slain businessman Jee Ick-joo was arrested yesterday.

Hoon Yoo, 33, was collared at his rented apartment in a village in this city, a source from the Bureau of Immigration fugitive search unit said.

Hoon reportedly told investigators that he acted as translator for Jee’s wife Choi Kyung-jin, and witnessed the turnover of P5 million to Jee’s kidnappers.

Records show that Hoon is on the immigration lookout bulletin for overstaying in the country.
