Crame cop gunned down in Batangas

BATANGAS, Philippines — A 46-year-old cop assigned in Camp Crame was gunned down by still unidentified assailants in Tanauan City Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Senior Superintendent Randy Peralta, Batangas police director identified the victim as PO3 Eric Oñate Lindo, a resident of Barangay Sala and assigned at the Holding Center in Camp Crame in Quezon City.
According to report, Lindo was on his way home aboard his Mitsubishi Lancer (PLR-758) when a Honda Civic with no license plate blocked his path upon reaching Barangay Pagaspas around 2:00 p.m.
Witnesses said two gunmen stepped down from the Honda Civic and open fired at Lindo before escaping towards unknown direction.
Lindo had just come from his store in Sto. Tomas town when the incident happened.
Peralta immediately ordered the activation of Oplan Kalasag to investigate the case and identify the personalities behind the shooting.
Police have yet to determine the motive of the incident.
