Fire razes 4 government offices in Pagadian
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A big fire gutted at least four regional government office buildings pre-dawn Friday in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, police said here.
The four buildings razed by fire include the regional offices of the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP), the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the National Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA) and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT).
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, spokesperson of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), said the fire also destroyed the service vehicles of the agencies which include an Isuzu Intercooler, a Mitsubishi Pajero and a Toyota Innova.
Galvez said the investigation of the Pagadian City Bureau of Fire Protection disclosed that the fire started at the building of NCIP about 1:20 a.m. and quickly spread to PIA, NCCA and DICT office buildings.
The fire lasted more than an hour before firefighters declared fire out.
Galvez said the fire bureau initially placed the damage at P2 million while investigation and assessment are still ongoing to determine the total amount of the damages.
