Sheila Crisostomo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The wage boards in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Cagayan Valley, Bicol and Central Visayas have approved salary increases for domestic workers.

Under the wage orders, the minimum wage of domestic helpers in Cagayan Valley will increase to 2,500 starting May 29. Domestic workers in cities and first class municipalities in Bicol will receive P3,000 while those in other areas will get P2,500 starting June 2.

The salary of domestic workers in cities and first class municipalities in CAR was raised to P3,000 and P2,500 in other areas last May 8. The same rates were implemented in Central Visayas on April 13.

The wage increase applies to all domestic workers, including general house helpers, cooks, gardeners, laundry persons or anyone who regularly performs domestic work in a household, whether on a live-in or live-out arrangement.
