Drug suspect found dead; 18 nabbed

MANILA, Philippines - Suspected vigilantes killed another drug suspect while 18 others were arrested as the government continued its war against illegal drugs in the past three days.

A man who has yet to be identified was found dead in Barangay Loma de Gato, Marilao, Bulacan at around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The body of the victim bore gunshot wounds while his legs were wrapped in masking tape. Police said a sachet of shabu was found near his body.

In Sultan Kudarat, 12 persons, including seven women, were arrested in a series of raids before dawn yesterday.

Personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Army 5th Special Forces and 37th Infantry Battalion as well as the Maguindanao and Sultan Kudarat police conducted the raids in Barangay Katuli based on search warrants issued by local courts.

Assorted firearms aside from sachets of shabu were recovered from the suspects.

Jimmy Falcon, 43, was arrested in Barangay Duran, Balatan and Marsel German, 46, in San Antonio, Bombon in Camarines Sur on Sunday.

Ian Bonita, 29, was collared in Dela Paz, Antipolo, Rizal. Grace Sibog, 41; Donald Quanzon, 33, and his brother Albert, 56, were nabbed in Upper Padre Burgos, Baguio City also on Sunday. – Ramon Efren Lazaro, John Unson, Raymund Catindig, Celso Amo, Non Alquitran
