Ex-PCG exec, wife slain in ambush
MANILA, Philippines - A former official of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and his wife were killed in an ambush perpetrated by two unidentified men on a motorcycle in Tondo, Manila on Tuesday night.
Archie Hicban, former PCG commander in Naga, Camarines Sur, and his wife April died at the scene from gunshots to the body.
The couple were in a Mitsubishi Strada pick-up (TRO-633) on their way home to Merville in Parañaque when they were waylaid.
Investigation conducted by Police Officer 3 Marlon San Pedro showed that the victims stopped for a traffic light at the corner of Road 10 and Capulong street at around 11:45 p.m. when the assailants opened fire.
Witnesses said Hicban embraced his wife to shield her from bullets but to no avail.
Probers said they have yet to establish the motive for the killing.
