ILOILO CITY, Philippines – Three men were killed in a brawl in Cabatuan, Iloilo before dawn yesterday.

The fatalities were identified as Roger Someros, 32; Juan Baron Jr., 43, and Roger Ebarle, 43.

Someros, 32, and Ebarle were declared dead on arrival at the Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital while Baron died while being treated in a hospital in Iloilo City.

Someros died from stab wounds in the chest and abdomen while Ebarle and Baron, who were cousins, were shot in the head and body.

Cabatuan police chief Senior Inspector Engilbert Banquillo said the fatalities were on their way home from watching a program in the town plaza.

Reports said Someros, who was allegedly drunk, fired a gun into the air.

Baron’s brother, who is a village watchman, cautioned Someros not to fire another shot.

Ebarle and Baron arrived in the area and a commotion ensued, followed by a burst of gunfire.

“It is possible that during the commotion, Someros shot Baron and Ebarle. One of the cousins or another person may have stabbed Someros,” Banquillo said.
