ILIGAN CITY, Philippines – Four persons were wounded in a grenade attack at a plaza in this city on Wednesday.

Initial investigation showed that an unidentified man wearing a bonnet and a jacket hurled the grenade near a remittance center at around 6:45 p.m. and fled toward Roosevelt street in Barangay Saray.

Laureto Carabantes, 26;  Cristine Mercaderos, 20; Cheryl Matugas, 22,  and Seila Mae Maagad, 23, were brought to a hospital for treatment.

Superintendent Surki Sereñas, Northern Mindanao police spokesman, said a task force was activated to investigate the attack.

“The investigation is focused on the possibility that the attack is directed to an individual or establishment…but the possibility that it is a terror attack is not being ruled out,” Superintendent Surki Sereñas said.
