Reward up for arrest of Bicol shabu lab operators
LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – The provincial government of Catanduanes is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the operators of a shabu laboratory found in Barangay Palta Small in Virac, Gov. Joseph Cua said yesterday.
Cua did not disclose the amount.
Police have launched a manhunt for Taiwanese citizens Paulo Uy and Jason Uy, the alleged tenants of the warehouse turned into a shabu laboratory owned by Angelica Balmadrid.
Senior Inspector Malou Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said a case would filed against the Uys this week.
Chemicals and equipment used to manufacture shabu and a truck were seized during a raid on the 400-square-meter property on Nov. 26.
The caretaker identified as Lawrence Pinera had been charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act last week.
Cua, who earlier denied his involvement in the illegal drug trade, urged the Department of Justice to conduct a parallel probe.
Virac Mayor Samuel Leynes said the owner of the lot should also be investigated.
