Ghio Ong, Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude-4.5 earthquake rocked parts of the Caraga region yesterday.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake struck at 5:51 a.m. Its epicenter was located 18 kilometers northeast of General Luna town in Surigao del Norte.

The quake was felt at Intensity 2 in General Luna and Intensity 1 in Surigao City.

Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the quake, which was tectonic in origin.

Another magnitude-3.4 quake was recorded in General Luna at 5:55 a.m., but this was “unfelt,” according to Phivolcs.
