Arson not ruled out in Caloocan police fire
MANILA, Philippines — Faulty electrical wiring could have caused the fire that razed the Caloocan City police station, an arson investigator said yesterday.
Fire Officer 3 Alwin Culianan, however, did not rule out the possibility of arson.
“We are looking into faulty wiring as the cause of the fire, but we are not discounting other angles,” Culianan said.
He dismissed reactions from netizens that the fire was intentional to burn case folders involving extrajudicial killings (EJKs) in the city.
“I don’t think the fire was meant to cover up EJK cases because there are copies of high-profile cases at the Northern Police District,” Culianan said.
