Bolivian caught with cocaine at NAIA
MANILA, Philippines - A Bolivian woman was arrested Monday night after arriving at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 for trying to smuggle liquid cocaine.
Maria Hinojosa Bazan’s arrest stemmed from an International Police report that a foreign passenger would be carrying illegal drugs, according to NAIA customs district collector Ed Macabeo.
Bazan arrived on the Ethiopian Air flight ET 628 from Addis Ababa just before 7 p.m. She was apprehended by members of the Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group.
The law enforcers found packs of liquid cocaine hidden in four winter jackets in her luggage.
Bazan and the cocaine were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for further investigation and filing of criminal charges.
