MMDA eyes 4 roads as alternate routes to EDSA

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is studying opening four more roads along Scout Borromeo street in Quezon City in a bid to resolve traffic congestion on EDSA.

MMDA officer-in-charge Tim Orbos said yesterday he has ordered the agency’s traffic engineering department to clear illegally parked vehicles and illegal vendors along roads leading to EDSA.

He said he has not yet chosen which roads to open.

“These roads are parallel to EDSA. If we are able to clear these roads from illegal vendors and illegally parked vehicles that could help ease traffic,” Orbos said.

Motorists can use these four roads to go to E. Rodriguez street, Santolan Avenue and Aurora Boulevard.

Orbos said it would be a challenge for the MMDA to keep the roads clear of obstructions. He said he will meet with barangay officials in the area to ask their help to enforce the MMDA’s policy.
