100 more cops off to Mindanao over drugs, extortion
MANILA, Philippines - At least 100 police officers from Metro Manila accused of extortion or having links to the illegal drug trade will be sent to Mindanao, Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, who heads the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said yesterday.
Among them are Caloocan police officers who were arrested after allegedly mulcting P300,000 from the relatives of drug suspects they earlier arrested.
Included in the list are Senior Police Officer 4 Dalmacio Robillon; Police Officers 2 Franklin Menor and Jim Canas; Police Officers 1 Jowell del Rosario and Aries Jade Briones; and three identified only as PO3 Clarito, PO3 Lucero and PO1 Livara.
NCRPO records show that since July 1, at least 108 police officers have been sent to Mindanao, 14 of whom have been absent without leave.
