Plot to kill Bato bared

MANILA, Philippines – Some retired and rich generals are reportedly financing an operation to assassinate Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

Dela Rosa revealed the alleged plot to liquidate him in an interview with reporters yesterday.

“Convicted drug lords have the money and still have connections so we will be vigilant,” he said.

“We received information that these generals, who have accumulated wealth, are financing the operation to kill me,” Dela Rosa added.

The PNP chief said they were still validating the information.

Dela Rosa had received death threats from drug lords who were affected by the PNP’s war on illegal drugs.

He said a group of drug convicts serving time at the New Bilibid Prison was raising P1 billion to finance his assassination and that of President Duterte.
