FDA recalls food supplement for kidney patients
MANILA, Philippines – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ordered the recall from the market of a special food product for kidney patients.
The FDA said Abbot Nutrition voluntarily recalled a batch of Nepro HP Renal Nutrition vanilla flavor with Lot Number 57648RA00.
“The products in this batch may have a different color, smell, taste or texture, which is inconsistent with other Abbott products,” the FDA said.
“While there is no serious health risks to consumers or patients consuming this product, the public is advised to discontinue using this as a precautionary measure,” it added.
Nepro HP Renal Nutrition is used as a dietary supplement by people who are on dialysis.
The FDA ordered its field regulatory operations office personnel to monitor the availability of the product in the market.

The FDA also warned the public against using StemEnhance™ dietary supplement. The product is not registered with the FDA.
