MIAA execs reshuffled after NAIA blackout
MANILA, Philippines - Officials of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) have been reshuffled following the five-hour blackout that struck the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 recently.
The blackout led to the cancellation of 82 local flights and delays in at least four international flights on April 2.
MIAA general manager Jose Angel Honrado attributed the blackout to bad luck.
In a memorandum order dated April 26, Honrado designated Ricardo Medalla Jr. as NAIA Terminal 3 terminal manager, replacing Octavio Lina.
Lina was named officer-in-charge for MIAA operations effective May 13.
Dante Basanta and Ric Gonzales, managers of NAIA Terminal 1 and 2, respectively, kept their posts.
Honrado said they implemented the reassignment order after seeking the approval of the Commission on Elections, which bans the transfer of government officials and employees during the election season.
