Student held for rape video upload
MANILA, Philippines - A 19-year-old student of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines was arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly uploading a video of him raping his 14-year-old former girlfriend.
Joshua Templado was taken to the Manila Police District Station 8 after his ex-girlfriend, a third year high school student, complained that he uploaded the video after she refused to reconcile with him.
In her complaint, the girl said Templado raped her when she was in his house on Feb. 5. She did not know he recorded the incident.
She said they quarreled two days later and she broke up with him. Templado threatened her in a private message on Facebook that he would upload the video and share it on social media.
The girl said after she learned that Templado sent the video to one of her friends, she decided to tell her mother and together they sought police assistance.
Templado was charged with rape and violation of the anti-voyeurism law in relation to Republic Act 7610, the law penalizing child abuse.
