New QCPD chief bars livestock, pets
MANILA, Philippines - Newly installed Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Edgardo Tinio prohibited animals from Camp Karingal, which houses the QCPD headquarters, an official said yesterday.
Tinio observed that livestock and pets like “goats, turkeys, ducks, chickens and dogs” were found roaming in the QCPD, camp commander Chief Inspector Benjamin Gabriel Jr. stated in a memorandum.
“It was also noticed in the past that dogs were also at the grandstand while a command activity was ongoing,” Gabriel said.
He said owners of the animals were told to prevent them from “grazing, roaming, and defecating” in the camp. He said the animals would be seized by the city government’s department of public order and safety.
Police Officer 3 Reginaldo Bucu, who wrote the order, said goats were also seen climbing on the grandstand’s stage during awarding ceremonies.
Animal owners who fail to comply with the order will face charges for violating the animal welfare law.
