MANILA, Philippines - A former barangay chairman’s son, suspected of supplying illegal drugs, and six others were arrested in a raid on a house in Quezon City yesterday.

Sachets of shabu, firearms and other weapons were found in the house of Bienvenido Aquino Jr., 42, in Barangay Holy Spirit.

The operation, which took place at around 1:30 a.m., was based on a search warrant issued by Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 89 Judge Cecilyn Burgos-Villavert.

Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar, Quezon City Police District director, alleged that Aquino is a known supplier of illegal drugs in the provinces of Bulacan, Pampanga and Quezon.

He is also a son of former Barangay Holy Spirit chairman Bienvenido Aquino Sr.

Aside from Aquino, six others were taken into custody after they were caught reportedly having a pot session: Randy Roy Galapon, 44; Allan Jay Sison, 30; Enderson Luna, 39; Dominic Macandog, 22; Maryjane Legaspi, 30; and a 17-year-old who was turned over to the local social workers.

Police recovered a .38 caliber revolver, a .22 caliber pistol, 39 assorted bullets, 15 grams of shabu worth P50,000, a sachet of dried marijuana leaves, a hand grenade, three swords and assorted drug paraphernalia.

All seven suspects face drug charges while Aquino also faces gun charges.
