DND slams North Korea rocket launch
MANILA, Philippines – The Department of National Defense condemned the latest rocket launch of North Korea and stressed the need for all countries to just focus on activities that could bring peace.
“We condemn this act and continue to remind our neighbors to instead concentrate on activities that lead to peace and development of our region,” defense department spokesman Peter Galvez said in a statement yesterday.
He said that countries in the region should stop actions that affect regional security.
“Let us all refrain from complicating the already volatile regional security state we are all in,” he added.
Galvez said they have received initial information that the debris of the rocket fell somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.
“We have no information yet as to where exactly,” he said.
National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council spokesperson Mina Marasigan said regional civil defense units have been instructed to undertake precautionary measures to avoid untoward incidents.
