Pres. Aquino has lost all his credibility!

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Freeman

There is no doubt anymore that President Benigno Aquino III has all but lost his credibility. How can we tell? Look at the front-page headlines of  The Philippine Star last Wednesday October 29th and it blared, "NOY: 2ND term not the right solution." Star's Thursday headline blared: 'No flip-flopping on Noy 2' and a teaser on the left said, "Palace: Noy truthful on 2nd term."

Apparently President Aquino delivered a speech at the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines  during its 13th CEO Forum and 118th general membership meeting in Makati. President Aquino said, "At the end of the day, again I have to re-emphasize, this is really a collective effort. Even if there are some quarters saying I should try and go for a second term. I don't think that's a right solution. We all have a time card in this world and we have to prepare for the eventuality of being called to meet our maker. So there has to be that continuation of people of like mind who will deliver on the promises that are real and not just self-serving or nice, pleasant to hear.

After that speech, Malacañang Palace spokesmen, Secretary Sonny Coloma and Edwin Lacierda issued a statement saying that President Aquino was telling the truth in that speech. They literally brushed aside speculation that the president would suddenly change his mind and once more seek another term. Come now, aren't these two jokers the very same people who tried to justify that plan by President Aquino to seek another term by changing the Constitution?

I'm willing to bet my five-year professional fee in The Freeman that if Aquino flip-flops on this issue, Coloma and Lacierda would be issuing statements to justify why the president had changed his mind! The issue at hand is the reality that we have a president whose word can no longer be trusted by the majority of the Filipino people.

The truth is the president has a bevy of speechwriters who write great speeches for him. However in most cases, presidents sit down with their speechwriters and tell them what to write. But in President Aquino's case, he apparently reads what those speech writers write for him.  So in the end, we don't really know if this is what the president wants… or was he merely reading what is in someone's mind? Now didn't we write long ago that President Aquino was someone's puppet?

If you ask, why has President Aquino lost his credibility? It is because from day one, the Aquino Regime dabbled on the use of yellow propaganda to prop up the president. It became worse nearly a year ago when CNN's Anderson Cooper flew to Tacloban right after super typhoon "Yolanda" struck and on live worldwide satellite television, Anderson Cooper told the world that there was no government helping the typhoon victims. Yet a week later, a headline report said "Yolanda hasn't dented the president's popularity!" It was pure bullshit to have that yarn printed in the newspapers. Aquino has cried "Wolf!" too many times! That's why he has lost his credibility and no one believes him anymore!

In that same forum, Aquino said, "With regard to how do we sustain this after 2016, then perhaps I will vote for the right candidate. And if I can ask you also to discern properly as to who is extolling populist sentiments with no substance as opposed to those who not only say the right things but whom you can trust to deliver the same." Here, the president is making sense and uses the word "Trust." So the question is, whom can we trust these days?

As we've pointed out time and time again, the Social Weather Station (SWS) which many people already believe has been used by the Aquino Regime as part and parcel of its propaganda machinery came out a couple of weeks ago that the most trusted person in the government is Vice President Jejomar Binay. Again we tasked SWS to come up with who paid for that survey? How was the survey questions conducted and why was it timed exactly when the vice president was under attack by the senators?

If at all, there was a very recent survey collated by the Philippine Trust Index, which was conducted by the EON Stakeholders Relations Firm that the Church is the most trusted institution in the country. Compared to the falsehood that SWS sells to the Filipino people, this survey is more credible, as it doesn't only mean the Catholic Church, but all religious institutions. These groups are the backbone of the National Transformation Council that seeks to reform our nation before it goes to the 2016 elections.

So finally, can we believe that President Aquino has changed his mind regarding his getting a 2nd term? Hmmm, only time will tell. For sure, he is frantically looking for another presidential bet that he can trust not to throw him in jail when he exits in Malacañang in the year 2016.
