MANILA, Philippines — Among the Disney Princesses, Ariel, the Little Mermaid, is actress Anne Curtis’ favorite.

“Kasi magkaboses kami eh!” Anne said during her recent launch as new ambassador of food supplement label Shiseido Collagen.

That is why, she said, it was a dream come true when she became Dyesebel because it was like the Pinoy version of Ariel.

“Wouldn’t you think I’m a girl, a girl who has everything!” Anne sang. Those lines from the soundtrack of “The Little Mermaid” really describes the actress who probably has it all – looks, fame, money and a handsome husband-to-be, Erwan Heussaff.

There are rumors that say Anne’s voice is really beautiful and she just makes it look bad to look funny and have a niche as a singer. Philstar.com asked her what she has to say about this.

“Actually, maraming nagsasabi na gumaling na ‘ko,” she replied. “Pati si Sir Rey Valera. Ang sabi n’ya, ‘Alam mo, gumanda talaga ‘yung voice mo.’ Sabi ko, ‘What do you mean?’”

According to her, since she and her other “It’s Showtime” co-hosts are celebrating the variety show’s eighth anniversary, it also means eight years of everyday singing for her. During commercials, she would sing in front of the “madlang people,” so maybe, those eight years have harnessed her vocal power.

“I soft released an album on Spotify and iTunes. ’Yun talaga inayos ko s’ya. You’ll see na it’s not the best pero I feel na anlaki na ng improvement!”

Anne further revealed that Valera told her that her voice might not be for pop, “So why don’t you study opera?”

So, besides fine-tuning her voice to become a probable opera singer, Anne approached production company Viva, which also manages her, and proposed to do opera-themed events where she can probably perform – even at the Cultural Center of the Philippines – in the future.

The actress, who has a penchant for singing Italian classical songs and who had sold-out concerts before, is ecstatic for what lies ahead in her so-called singing career.

“Sabi ko, parang maganda ‘yung naka-gown lang, not dancing. Then we invite other people to also sing. Sabi nila (Viva), baka pwede! We’ll see!”
