JaDine pa more in the hit Team Real book

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

Asked what part of James Reid’s body is her favorite, his girlfriend Nadine Lustre made James take off his shades. “His eyes,” she smiled.

And what part of Nadine’s body is James’ favorite?

James looked lovingly at Nadine and, gently touching the part, winked at Nadine, “Her shoulder blades.”

They are fit and fabulous, despite their tight work schedule perhaps they do observe a healthy diet and work out regularly.

“In fact,” revealed James, “we work out together. We are going to the gym tonight.”

That playful exchange between Funfare and, if you ask the loveteam’s diehard supporters, “the hottest tandem today,” happened Thursday afternoon after the official launch of Team Real, their best-selling 120-page full-color book (more than 100,000 copies sold upon release) which, as advertised, gives not just their fans but the whole world “your all-access pass into James Reid and Nadine Lustre’s world.”

The book’s title aptly describes the status of James and Nadine who, as observers would note, are not faking it and are actually going steady starting last February when James publicly said “I love you!” to Nadine during their concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. In the transparent world of showbiz, it’s easy to spot who are just “making believe” and who are, so to speak, letting it all hang.

During Funfare’s interview, the sweethearts held hands even as they stood to go. Those locked hands eloquently told the whole story, the true story with not a thing hidden.

Nadine was among the frontrunners in the voting for the year’s Sexiest Woman. On his Twitter account, James posted something like this, “Who is responsible for this?” beside a posting of Nadine’s picture being No. 1 in the early voting. Asked if it meant that he frowned on his girlfriend’s running in the sexiest race, James explained, “Not at all. I’m happy for her.” In reverse, how would Nadine react if James were voted No. 1 Sexiest Male? Casting a loving glance at James, she said, “I would be very happy for him.” (According to sources, Jessy Mendiola has taken the lead.)

Back to the book (only P295 per copy at National Bookstores and Powerbooks, published by VRJ Books Publishing, Inc. of Viva Group of Companies; with Irish Christianne Dizon as editor-in-chief, Merlito Pabatao, creative director and Pete Rich, illustrator)  which James described as “your window into our minds, our untold stories and unseen photos…The pictures come from us and the words from our mouths. Nadine and I were completely involved.”

One of the titillating stories is about how they fell in love (more details than what they have already shared with the public), from the time they did the movie Diary ng Panget until they topbilled the chart-buster Kapamilya teleserye On The Wings Of Love (OTWOL) and beyond.

Wrote Nadine in the Foreword: You hold in your hands a book where I reveal everything about myself, stuff you didn’t know about, stuff you didn’t expect, stuff you thought would never happen, and stuff you wouldn’t believe happened…I want you to be inspired and I hope you see James and me as normal people who have struggles and challenges.”

Lest I spoil the fun, I will let you in on bits and pieces from the book and let you discover more about JaDine (but first, rush to a bookstore nearest you before copies go out of stock).

•After staying in a rented house in Makati City, James is excited to move to his dream house where he hopes to spend more time with his family: …I’m going to transform the entire third floor into my very own man cave. It has a balcony outside with a nice view of the pool. I’m going to have a computer room/sound-proof music studio…

…since we were kids (in Australia) dad trained me and my siblings to do household chores. So I know my way around the house and can survive without helpers. I took care of myself for the longest time. I can do the laundry, iron clothes, vacuum, and cook dinner. (My specialty is lamb chops. And I’ll only cook it if the lamb is from Australia.) I can also wash the dishes. I just turned 23; I can move out if I wanted to and live in a condo, but I like living with my family. My dad is 73 now and he needs me. Plus, I know I don’t seem like the talkative type; I don’t seem really social, but my number one fear is being alone…

Nadine disclosed that she and her family are in the process of having their house (where they lived for 22 years with fond memories) renovated and it’s taking time:…I’m very OC (Obsessive-Compulsive) and hands-on kasi. (Just the other day, kasi wala akong work, I bought cabinet handles. Ultimo the smallest details ng bahay, I decide.) I was supposed to hire an interior designer, pero I decided na ako na lang. It’s hard, but iba kasi ‘yung feeling na alam mong sa’yo nanggaling. This is me. This is what I want. Ako talaga ‘yung nakikita ng guests…

If and when, and if ever, they live together (which their fans believe is very possible), James and Nadine would be harmonious housemates.

James: I really don’t have any rules, but if you one day visit me at my house, please leave your shoes outside. And no video greeting requests allowed!

Nadine: I’m a very chill person, but these are my pet peeves: when people bring their shoes inside the house, don’t close the main door, don’t flush the toilet, don’t bring their dirty plates to the sink, and leave the TV on. Otherwise, it’s all good!
