Netizens throw mixed reactions on Tugonon's breakup with BF

Jerille Gonzales -

MANILA, Philippines - Netizens threw mixed reactions after Miss Universe 2012 1st runner-up Janine Tugonon broke up with her boyfriend Jaypee Santos because of The Script's vocalist Danny O’Donoghue.

Majority of the tweets on the topic, which trended on Twitter, heckled the beauty queen and expressed sympathy for her boyfriend.

Amid all the heckles, however, Tugonon also received praises from her fans, and some even said that O’Donoghue was a better choice.

With the series of heckles over the breakup, Tugonon changed the quote in her Twitter's bio to: "We all have a past, so stop judging people in the present...."

Tugonon announced her breakup with Jaypee on during the April 16 airing of ABS-CBN'S "Kris TV."

The breakup, apparently, came with Tugonon's "connection" with the Irish band's vocalist. She admitted that before their breakup, she and O’Donoghue had been exchanging messages through the iMessage and Twitter.

Tugonon said that she met Danny O’Donoghue during the fans meet and greet at the Smart Araneta Coliseum where they held their concert on March 31.

“Nanood kami ng concert. Kasi hindi ba sa Araneta kapag may meet and greet, since kilala ko ang staff ng Araneta sabi ko sa kanila sobra akong fan ng The Script pwede bang ma-meet ko. So na meet niya ako, nandoon siya si [Jaypee] pinakilala ko nga siya, tinanong niya ‘do you have a boyfriend?’ Sabi ko ‘yeah that’s my boyfriend,'" the beauty queen said during morning show.

"Tapos ‘yon sabi niya ‘follow me on Twitter and I will follow you back’ tapos nag-direct message siya. Oo na (galit) siya (si Jaypee) kasi sabi niya kung ayaw mo talaga sa taong yan hindi mo siya kokontakin.” she added.
